Horse Selling Advice
Transfer of Funds
Be sure that, as a seller, you are protected from any risk regarding payment for the horse you are selling. Ask for a certified check or money order from the buyer before you release the horse or sign the bill of sale or brand inspection.
If the buyer wishes to give you a personal check, you might consider holding the paperwork for a few days so the check can clear the bank, especially if the buyer is from out of state or a foreign country.
